Bottom Line: My created identity is revealed when what I've created is removed.

Psalms 139:23-24 NLT
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

1. I need to trust the mirror.

Jeremiah 17:9 NLT
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?

2. My heart and my mind create a false identity.

Psalms 139:23-24 NLT
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

3. My false identity prevents the discovery of my created identity.

4. God's desire is to reveal my created identity.

START TALKING
When have you discovered the original or intended creation of something once something else that was covering it up had been removed? Maybe it was carpet hiding original and beautiful hardwood floors. Maybe it was getting the weeds out of your yard so the grass could grow. Or maybe it was restoring something back to it's original condition.

What had to be removed so that the original creation could be seen?

START THINKING
Read Psalm 139:23-24. Then read verses 19-22. Why do you think the Psalmist prays the prayer in verses 23-24 right after describing what he does in verses 19-22?

Read Jeremiah 17:9. How does this verse seem to go hand in hand with this prayer from Psalm 139?

Why do you think most people in today's culture struggle with the truth in Jeremiah 17:9 and even the prayer in Psalm 139:23-24?

START SHARING
When you began following Jesus or as you have grown closer to Him, what were some of the areas of your false identity that you had not noticed before but became clear to you?

What does your heart and mind tend to tell you that is in opposition to what God says about you and who he has created you to be?

What are some verses that come to mind or that you can search to find that speak to your created identity?

START DOING
If God's desire is to reveal to you His created identity for you, what are some disciplines and practices that you can put into place on a daily basis that will help you to discover that created identity?

What have you found is most helpful to you to be intentional each day to discover what is blocking you from discovering your created identity and then realize who He has truly created you to be? Share those practices with each other, how you do it, and how we can learn from each other.

START PRAYING
Pray for each person in the micro church to follow through with their answers to the previous two questions. Pray for each other to tune out and get rid of all the outside sources trying to define you, and only trust the Maker.

MULTIPLICATION

Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:
  - Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
  - What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
  - How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
  - How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
  - Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?
