Bottom Line: Growing my generosity grows my faith.

Acts 20:35
And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

2 Corinthians 9:11
Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.

How does generosity grow my faith?

Malachi 3:10
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!

1. Trusting god with my tithe opens the windows of heaven.

Isaiah 32:8
But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity.

2. Planning my generosity proves my faithfulness.

Philemon 1:6
And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ.

3. Start taking generosity steps now.

Proverbs 11:24-25
Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

4. Becoming more generous leads me to becoming more like my Father.

START TALKING
What is a time that you have given someone something and it brought you so much more joy than any time that you have received something?

START THINKING
Read Acts 20:35. How does working hard lead to helping others? If this is how we help those in need, how is this different than what our culture assumes?

What do you think the quote of Jesus in that verse means - it is more blessed to give than receive? How would you explain this to someone else? What might be their “pushbacks” to this idea?

START SHARING
Read Malachi 3:10. When have you experienced the “window” or “floodgate” of heaven being opened or poured out on you? What are the ways this happens? Is it always financial?

Read Isaiah 32:8. How have you planned to be generous? Why is it necessary to have a plan if you are going to give? When have you not had a plan or budget where giving was prioritized and how did it make it difficult to give?

Read Philemon 1:6. Whether it’s starting to tithe or taking steps to be more generous, what are the biggest challenges or roadblocks to you taking that step?

START DOING
Do you have a plan to be generous? Another way to say that is do you have a budget that you use to plan your finances, and does that budget prioritize giving first? Why or why not? What can you do this week to plan a step of growing generosity?

What is your step of generosity that you are going to take? Is it from not giving to giving something? Giving something to giving a true tithe? Or tithing to giving above a tithe as an offering?

START PRAYING
Pray for each person in the micro church to be faithful to take the step shared above. Pray that each of us experiences a growth in faith as our generosity grows. Pray that God will use the shared generosity to make an impact for the Kingdom in Knoxville, the US, and around the world!

Sign up for the Money Wise online course. This six-session video course will only take you about 20 minutes per session to complete, but can help you with the understanding and resources to have "common cents" when it comes to your finances, so that Jesus and Jesus alone will have all of your heart! Use the online connection card link below and type "Money Wise" in the prayer requests and comments box.

MULTIPLICATION

Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:
  - Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
  - What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
  - How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
  - How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
  - Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?
