Bottom Line: Prayer is a reminder that we need God
Matthew 6:10-13 NLT
May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
1. We need God to lead us
1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
James 1:13-15 NLT
And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
Isaiah 41:10 NLT
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
2. We need God to protect us
Matthew 6:13 NLT
And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
Romans 8:1-3 NLT
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.
3. We need God to Deliver us

START TALKING
This morning, we talked about how prayer is a reminder that we need God. We need God to lead us, we need God to protect us, and we need God to deliver us. How have you seen prayer impact your need for God?
START THINKING
Read Matthew 6:13 - What stands out to you about this particular part of the Lord’s prayer? Why?
Why do you think Jesus concluded the Lord’s prayer with this particular request
START SHARING
Read Proverbs 16:9, 19:21, and 3:5 - How have you seen the idea of these verses play out in your own life? Read Philippians 4:6-7 - How have you experienced God’s peace in times of temptation or trials?
Read 1 Corinthians 10:13 - Have you ever felt like you were completely alone in your suffering? How has prayer impacted those moments for you?
Read James 1:13-15 - How can we be more aware of how our own desires impact the temptations we experience? How have you overcome in the past: BE REAL!
Read Isaiah 41:10 - How has God strengthened you in those times of trouble?
Read Romans 8:1-3 - What do you think it means that there is no condemnation for followers of Jesus? Do you ever feel condemned still? What does this verse say how God delivered us from sin? Was it by our own doing or his?
START DOING
If we believe prayer reminds of us of our need for God, how can you make prayer a vital part of your daily life?
Today we talked about how the Lord’s prayer is a template and not some magic spell. How will you use the Lord’s prayer as a template and not a magic spell this week?
START PRAYING
Take a moment to pray for each person - that God will continue to shape our view of the Kingdom of God - that God will help us fall more in love with Jesus and the work he is doing in us. Pray that God gives us opportunity to impact others for eternity.

MULTIPLICATION
Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:
- Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
- What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
- How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
- How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
- Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?

WHAT'S NEXT?
- Discuss the next step for your micro church. When will we gather again, and which purpose will it fulfill (missions, fellowship/care, growth, worship, multiplication)?/giveback/giveback
