Bottom Line: Perspective changes when I know where it comes from.

Psalms 50:8-10 NIV
I bring no charges against you concerning your sacrifices or concerning your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pensfor every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.

1. God owns it all.

Psalms 50:8-10 NIV
I bring no charges against you concerning your sacrifices or concerning your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pensfor every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.

2. God doesn't need anything from me.

Psalms 50:14-15 NIV
“Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most Highand call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

3. God wants generosity for me.

Psalms 50:16-23 NIV
But to the wicked person, God says: “What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son. When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.“Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue youThose who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.”

4. True generosity comes from a heart of true worship.

START TALKING

What is an example of when your perspective changed because you knew where something came from? Was it a food you would normally eat (or not eat!) but that changed because of where it came from? Was it a gift that was extra special to you because of where it came from? Or maybe it was an extra dose of trust or confidence because you knew the source?

START THINKING

Read Psalm 50:8-10 and James 1:17. What are the similarities that you see in these two passages? What truth do you take from these passages? How would you explain this (or these) principles to someone who had never heard it before?

START SHARING

How have you experienced the truth that God owns everything already and that every good and perfect gift comes down from Him? How does this impact your generosity? How does it impact your worship?

START DOING

What step of generosity are you going to take as a result of what you have learned in this discussion or throughout this series?

What is the step below that most challenges you and that you want to focus on the most as you move forward with "common cents?

Acquire - Give - Save - Repay - Enjoy

START PRAYING

Pray for each other in the micro church to take the step that you feel led to take, and to trust God as you do. Pray that people where you live, work, and play will see your faith and be inspired to follow suit. Pray that an eternal impact will be made as a result!

MULTIPLICATION

Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:
  - Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
  - What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
  - How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
  - How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
  - Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?
