Hope For Moms - Giving Back for Mother’s Day
On Mother’s Day, May 14, we’re not only going to honor and celebrate moms at OneLife, but moms all over our city through Knoxville’s Hope Resource Center. On May 14 we’re asking all of our OneLifers to bring newborn diapers, baby wipes, and new infant clothes (up to 12 months) to your campus. These items will be given away to new moms through the Hope Resource Center baby showers and parenting classes. Click here for a full list of items.

Rising 6th Grade Parent Zoom Call, May 7
As the school year is coming to a close, our 5th graders in Kid City are only a few months away from moving up into OneLife Students. So, on Sunday, May 7 we will have a zoom call at 7pm for parents of rising 6th graders where we’ll discuss the transition, share our summer calendar, and give you a chance to ask questions. For more information or to let us know you’re coming, mark the OneLife Students box on your Connection Card.

Child Dedications,  May 21
The partnership between the Church and the family is vital! For families with younger children, we're having a special Child Dedication service to commit to this partnership publicly. It'll take place Sunday, May 21 at 12:15pm after the second service. We will have a parent meeting via zoom on Sunday, May 7th. For more information or to sign up, mark the Child

BOTTOM LINE: Am I being honest with myself...really?

2 Chronicles 36:11 NLT

11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years.

2 Chronicles 36:12 NLT

12 But Zedekiah did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and he refused to humble himself when the prophet Jeremiah spoke to him directly from the Lord.

1. If I'm not submitting to what God says...pause!

2 Chronicles 36:12NLT

12 But Zedekiah did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and he refused to humble himself when the prophet Jeremiah spoke to him directly from the Lord.

2. If I'm not listening to what godly people say...pause!

Jeremiah 17:9 NLT

9 “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked.Who really knows how bad it is?

3. If I'm following my heart...pause!

Ezekiel 36:26-27 NLT

26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.

4. If I'm following the heart of Jesus...don't pause - run!

START TALKING
When do you find yourself saying, "What were they thinking?!" What's an example of when you saw something and it was obvious they were not being honest with themselves!

What is one regret you have when you look back at your younger self and you realize you were not being honest with yourself! What were you wearing, what did your hair look like, or what did you do then that you see pictures and say, "What was I thinking?!"

START THINKING
Read Jeremiah 17:9. When people say, “Follow your heart, what are they really saying?

How does this verse go against what most in our culture would tell us or even encourage us to do?

When you think about this truth, what are examples of people following their heart that often does not go well?

START SHARING
Read 2 Chronicles 36:12. Zedekiah was not honest with himself about what God said was best and what a godly person tried to tell him. Share a time that you made a decision or went a direction that was not in line with what God said is best and/or other godly people tried to caution you and warn you about it. How did you justify it in the moment? When you look back on it, how was your heart deceiving you and blinding you?

Read Ezekiel 36:26-27. What did you notice changed when you followed Jesus and received a new heart? How did your desires change or how did your old desires become challenged? How have you had to go against what culture or conventional wisdom would tell you is best?

START DOING
What can you do this week to pause and be honest with yourself? How can you use that to determine if you are submitting to what God says, listening to what godly people advise, and follow the heart of Jesus? What is one thing you can change this week or do differently?

Who are two people in your life that will be impacted by your life and your story If you will be honest with yourself in these moments of decision? What part of your story with Jesus can you share to help others in the same way?

What will you do this week to be intentional with those people and those relationships to make a difference in them and be part of their discipleship journey?

START PRAYING

Pray for each other to be honest with themselves about what God says and wants for us. Pray for the people in each other‘s lives that we have the opportunity to impact and see their lives changed, too.

  - How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
  - How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
  - Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?
