Bottom Line: Forgiveness is a process that reminds me how much of it I need.

Matthew 6:9-15 NIV
“This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your nameyour kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Forgiveness - Letting go of the desire to get even.

Forgiving others is equally needed.

I will be forgiven as much as I am willing to forgive.

START TALKING
What is something that you have experienced where getting started or being involved with it showed you how much of it you have to left to do or to learn or to figure out?

START THINKING
Read Matthew 6:9-15 again. Then read Ephesians 4:32, Mark 11:25, and Matthew 18:21-22. How do these three passages line up with the way we are taught to pray by Jesus in the Lord's Prayer?

Why do you think that most people struggle with being able to forgive others? What is likely missing in their understanding of their own sin and need for forgiveness?

START SHARING
Why do most of us assume that forgiveness means forgetting about it? What is dangerous about this incorrect definition?

Read Matthew 5:23-24. Reconciliation and forgiveness seem to be more important to Jesus in this passage than what? Does this surprise you? Why do you think this is the case?

When have you experienced needing to reconcile a relationship to experience true worship? How does a broken earthly relationship impede your worship of the heavenly Father?

Read Romans 3:23. What is the connection between recognizing how much forgiveness you need from God and the ability (or willingness) to forgive someone else? How does confessing how much sin you have that needs forgiveness help open the door for you to more readily forgive those who have hurt you?

START DOING
How can you recognize each day this week your own need for forgiveness?

What are some steps you can take to let go of the desire to get even with someone else? Are you truly able to do this on your own? How much of it will be a supernatural process that requires the Holy Spirit's leadership and guidance in your life?

START PRAYING

Pray for each person in the microchurch to both receive and offer forgiveness willingly and readily this week. Pray that this will pave the way and open the door for people far from God to experience Jesus in a real way as they see forgiveness first hand in a way that they may have never seen before.

MULTIPLICATION

Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:
  - Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
  - What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
  - How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
  - How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
  - Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?
