BOTTOM LINE: Missional momentum comes from doing what Jesus did.

Matthew 4:23-25 NLT

23 Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. 24 News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all. 25 Large crowds followed him wherever he went—people from Galilee, the Ten Towns, Jerusalem, from all over Judea, and from east of the Jordan River.

1. Missional momentum starts with the home crowd.

Matthew 4:23 NLT

2. Missional momentum makes it out of the church building.

3. Missional momentum meets needs.

Matthew 4:24 NLT
24 News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all.

Acts 2:22-24 NLT
22 “People of Israel, listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus the Nazarene by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through him, as you well know. 23 But God knew what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and killed him. 24 But God released him from the horrors of death and raised him back to life, for death could not keep him in its grip.

Acts 2:38-41 NLT
38 Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away—all who have been called by the Lord our God.” 40 Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!” 41 Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.

Acts 2:43-47 NLT
43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

START TALKING
Who are some “greats” you pay attention to?
(Athletes, artists, visionaries). How did they get where they are?

Share a time when you wanted to achieve something so you studied the path to get there.

START THINKING
How are you investing in the home crowd?
Of the 4 core purposes (experience Jesus, Giving Jesus your best, not doing life alone, and Multiplying like Jesus), where are we doing well?
Where could we potentially take a next step?

START SHARING
Is your mission making it out of the building?
When is the last time you had a conversation with someone about faith that didn’t already believe what you believed? How did it go?
Think about your daily life. Where do you feel like you have the most opportunity to let the mission leave the building?

START DOING
How are we meeting needs? If we closed our doors today, would the community miss us? If not, what can we do to change that this week?

What’s the Holy Spirit’s role in missional momentum? What can we do to better listen to the holy spirit and do what he says?

How will we know when we’re achieving missional momentum? What are the signs of missional momentum?

START PRAYING

Take a moment to pray for each person - that God will continue to shape our view of the Kingdom of God - that God will help us fall more in love with Jesus and the work he is doing in us. Pray that God gives us opportunity to impact others for eternity.

MULTIPLICATION
Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:
  - Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
  - What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
  - How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
  - How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
  - Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?
