BOTTOM LINE:
There really is no “Ticket to Heaven.” Only falling in love with Jesus.
MISINFORMATION ABOUT HEAVEN: Good people go. I'm a
good person.
HEAVEN (Ouranos): Up over the horizon.
John 14:1-7 NIV
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
https://bible.com/bible/111/jhn.14.1-7.NIV
1. Jesus talked about the Kingdom … never the location.
2. Heaven without Jesus will be Hell.
3. The real ticket is falling in love with Jesus.
4. How you live doesn’t impact where you go - it impacts what it's like for you when you arrive.
Revelation 21:1-4 NIV
1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Start Talking
What are some common cultural ideas about what heaven is like? (Think about some of the examples Dan gave - that we'll become angels and get our wings, all good people go to heaven, etc.)
What do you think about when you hear the phrase "ticket to heaven?"
Start Thinking
Read Matthew 7:13. Even though, culturally, 8 out of 10 people say they are "going to heaven," what does the bible seem to indicate from this passage?
Read Luke 17:20-21. How does Jesus describe the Kingdom of God from this passage?
Start Sharing
Read Revelation 21:1-4. Based on what this passage says about heaven and eternity, what do you get the sense that heaven is really all about?
Read John 14:1-6 and refer back to Matthew 7:13. After reading these passages, what do you think the real "ticket to heaven" is?
Start Doing
How will you let a better knowledge and understanding of what heaven really is (and how to get there) impact what you do this week?
How will you use your story and your changed life to make a difference in others to impact their eternity? WHO will you impact?
Start Praying
Take a moment to pray for each person - that God will continue to shape our view of the Kingdom of God - that God will help us fall more in love with Jesus and the work he is doing in us. Pray that God gives us opportunity to impact others for eternity.

MULTIPLICATION
Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:
- Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
- What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
- How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
- How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
- Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?

WHAT'S NEXT?
