Confidence that God is with me and in total control.

BOTTOM LINE: If I believe but don't do, nothing will be made new.

Matthew 16:24 NLT

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.

1.  Growing my faith starts with giving up doing it how I've always done it.

Matthew 7:24 NIV

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

2.  Belief turns into faith when I actually do what I claim to believe.

3.  When my faith intersects God's faithfulness, my faith grows.

Matthew 7:26 NIV

26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

4.  Believing but not doing leads to dead faith.

5.  Find practical teaching to learn what to do not just believe.

6.  Share my faith story with others to teach practical faith.

Start Talking
When have you ever bought something or signed up for something and then never used it?

Similarly, when have you ever thought or believed something was a good idea, but you never did it?

Start Thinking
Read Matthew 16:24. What does Jesus want us to do in order to follow him?

Read Matthew 7:24. What does Jesus want us to do after we hear his words/teachings?

Read Matthew 7:26. What is the danger in not putting into practice what Jesus says?

Start Sharing
What is the most difficult thing about giving up “my way” and how I’ve always done things?

Do you find yourself believing Jesus’s words & teachings are great ideas, but never putting them into practice? Why is it difficult to do that sometimes? What is the danger for YOU in not putting his words into practice?

Start Doing

Rodney gave us two very practical steps to take:
1. Find practical teaching to learn what to DO, not just believe.
2. Share my faith story with others to teach practical faith.

How will you put into action those next steps starting this week?

Start Praying
Take a moment and ask what each person’s takeaway from today’s discussion is. As you pray, ask God to help each person live out those next steps and make a huge difference where they live, work & play!

Be sure to fill out the online Connection Card to let us know next steps, prayer requests, or other information you'd like to share, Click Here.

Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:

Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
Who in your life do you think could be discipleable or open to spiritual/missional conversations?

Discuss the next step for your micro church. When will we gather again, and which purpose will it fulfill (missions, fellowship/care, growth, worship, multiplication)?
