ANNOUNCEMENTS

OneLife Students Back to School Bash, August 6
This Wednesday, August 6th at 6:30pm we’ll be having our annual OneLife Students Back-To-School Bash at the North Campus. It’s going to be a lot of fun as we wrap up summer and get ready to kick off the new school year! So mark your calendars and make plans to be there! If you’d like more information about OneLife Students, mark the OneLife Students box on your Connection Card.

Kid City “Pop Up” Sunday, August 10
Next Sunday, August 10th Kid City is having “Pop Up” Sunday for kindergarten through 5th grade. This means that August 3rd will be the last Sunday in their current grade level, and on August 10th they’ll “pop up” to their new grade for the new school year. Plus, it’ll be a popcorn themed day which will be a lot of fun for our kiddos. So we can’t wait to see you then!

40 Days of Prayer and Fasting
From August 18 to September 26, we’re inviting everyone to join us in prayer each day as we seek God for OneLife and the new season ahead. In addition to praying daily, we’re asking each person to choose at least one day during this time to participate in a true biblical fast on behalf of our church. We’ll have someone hosting the calendar to help get you signed up for the day you choose. We’ll also send you reminders, provide helpful resources, and walk with you every step of the way. Let’s believe together that every day will be covered in both prayer and fasting!

Baptism
If you’ve given your life to Jesus but haven’t gone public with your story through baptism then it’s time to take that step! Mark the baptism box on your Connection Card and we’ll help you get started.

Bottom Line: You were made for THIS day

Esther 4:7-9 NLT
Mordecai told him the whole story, including the exact amount of money Haman had promised to pay into the royal treasury for the destruction of the Jews.Mordecai gave Hathach a copy of the decree issued in Susa that called for the death of all Jews. He asked Hathach to show it to Esther and explain the situation to her. He also asked Hathach to direct her to go to the king to beg for mercy and plead for her people. So Hathach returned to Esther with Mordecai’s message.

Point 1: Recognize the reality of this day

Esther 4:10-12 NLT
Then Esther told Hathach to go back and relay this message to Mordecai“All the king’s officials and even the people in the provinces know that anyone who appears before the king in his inner court without being invited is doomed to die unless the king holds out his gold scepter. And the king has not called for me to come to him for thirty days.”So Hathach gave Esther’s message to Mordecai.

Point 2: Confront the fear of this day

Esther 4:13-14 NLT
Mordecai sent this reply to Esther: “Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”

Point 3: Embrace the day you are in

Esther 4:15-17 NLT
Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai“Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.”So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him.

Point 4: Answer the call of this day

START TALKING:

START THINKING:
Read Esther 4:7–9
Esther was insulated from the pain of her people—until Mordecai helped her recognize the reality of what was going on.

Questions:
  • In what ways do we get disconnected from the needs around us?
  • What “realities” are easy to overlook in our jobs, families, or communities?
  • Why is it so important to stay aware of the pain and potential around us?

Read Esther 4:10–12
Esther’s fear was real and valid—approaching the king could mean death.

Questions:
  • How does fear show up in your life when it comes to following God’s calling?
  • What fear might be keeping you from stepping into something God is prompting you to do right now?

Read Esther 4:13–14
Mordecai’s challenge—“Perhaps you were made for such a time as this”—is both convicting and inspiring.

Questions:
  • Have you ever had someone challenge or call you into something greater? What impact did that have?
  • What does this moment in Esther’s story tell us about God’s timing and purpose for where we are right now?

Read Esther 4:15–17
Esther responds with surrender, courage, and action. She doesn’t wait for perfect conditions—she answers the call of her day.

Questions:
  • Where in your life do you need to stop waiting and start trusting?

What could it look like for you to live with the mindset: “If I perish, I perish”?

START SHARING:
God uses ordinary people in ordinary places for extraordinary purposes. That includes where you live, work, learn, and play.

Questions:
  • What’s one area of your life right now where you sense God is calling you to show up with more purpose?
  • What’s holding you back from stepping into that moment with faith?
  • Who in your life has helped you embrace God's purpose in difficult seasons?

START DOING:
Your day—your assignment—may not look like Esther’s, but the principle still applies. You were made for this moment.

Questions:
  • What step can you take this week to recognize, confront, embrace, or answer the call of this day?
  • Where have you been tempted to “sit this one out” that God is actually calling you to step in?

Who is one person in your life that needs you to step into your God-given influence today?

START PRAYING:

Ask God to reveal where He's positioned you "for such a time as this."

Pray for:
  • Awareness of the needs around you
  • Courage to face fear with faith
  • Strength to step into your purpose, even when it’s uncomfortable
  • Wisdom to know how to influence your workplace, family, or community for God’s kingdom
  • People in your life who are watching your story unfold—pray they see Jesus in it

  - How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
  - How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
  - Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?
